Fire Department Recruitment
Goal: To keep a current list of potential recruits to fill firefighter vacancies. Each list will expire upon conception of the one that follows.

New Recruit Testing Date/Time: Saturday August 12, 2023 / 9:00 am
New Recruit Test Site: Lovett Memorial Library, 111 N. Houston Drive - Pampa, TX 79065
Interested candidates need be present at the testing facility on the morning of the New Recruit Written.
- Written Testing will commence at 9:00am. Tardiness will not be tolerated.
- Study material available at : https://www.publicsafetycompass.com/product/entry-level-firefighter-online-study-guide/
- Upon completing the examination, candidates will be immediately notified of results.
Candidates whom achieve a passing grade (70% or better) will be invited to continue with the recruiting process. All others will be dismissed.
- Continuing candidates will be offered a “Release and Waiver” that must be signed, dated, and witnessed by a Notary of the Public prior to advancing to the next phase of testing.
- A Notary of the Public will be present to facilitate this signing.
- Candidates will then be excused for a lunch break.
Candidates whom remain in the recruitment process need be present at the testing facility on that same afternoon for Physical Agility Testing (PAT).
- PAT will commence at 1:00pm. Tardiness will not be tolerated.
- PAT will commence at the discretion of the PFD Officers conducting the exam.
- Primary PAT conducted at PFD Drill Tower (Fair Weather)
- Alternate PAT conducted at Testing Facility (Inclement Weather)
Candidates whom successfully complete the Physical Agility Test will be invited to continue with the recruiting process. All others will be dismissed.
- Continuing candidates will be offered the following forms, along with instructions for completion:
- “Personal History Statement”
- “Disclosure and Authorization Form”
- City of Pampa Job Application
- An interview schedule will be developed and offered to the remaining candidates prior to their departure from the test site.
- Interviews are slated to be conducted during the week of August 14-18, 2023
At conclusion of testing, all remaining candidates will be released.
Background checks will be conducted as immediately as necessary.
Pre-employment physicals will be offered and conducted as immediately as necessary.
Any offer of employment will be made at discretion of The Fire Chief, or his designee.
