Information
The City of Pampa is committed to the enhancement of the quality of life and making Pampa a safer place to live through the enforcement of Health Codes.
The City of Pampa actively pursues the health and welfare of all citizens by routinely inspecting food establishments as necessary.
Food establishments include
- Restaurants
- Retail stores
- Day care centers
- Nursing homes
- Mobile food vendors
- Hospitals
- Seasonal food vendors
Permits
All food establishments within the city limits of Pampa are required to obtain Health Permits from the City of Pampa. An application must be filled out and returned to the Permitting Office in City Hall along with the permit fee after successfully passing inspection.
Inspections
Establishments are randomly selected for inspection to determine if the preparation, service and display of food and beverage products are handled under sanitary conditions.
Persons handling or preparing food and beverage within this category are required to demonstrate knowledge of food borne disease prevention, application of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point principles, and the requirements of the Texas Food Establishment Rules.
The person in charge shall demonstrate this knowledge by compliance with these rules, by being a certified food protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program, or by responding correctly to the inspector’s questions as they relate to the specific food operation.
Concerns or Questions
Concerns or questions relating to health safety inside the city limits of Pampa may be directed to the City Health Inspector, however, if it is an emergency situation, call 911. If the concern involves a food establishment outside the city limits, contact the Texas Department of Health office in Canyon. The phone number in Canyon is (806) 655-7151.
